Hillman College

I think I grew up in the best decade ever. Born in 76' and raised in the 80's and 90's. Where fashion now mirrors most of what we wore back then. And because I hate to part with anything, my closet is still filled with clothes that I wore in High School (1990-1994). Yes, I'm a pack rat.

Through my years, I found that there were two people that I drew so much inspiration from as I got older, "A Different World's" Whitley Gilbert! She was proper and "pink". What I call, lady-like clothing accessorized with a fashionable brooch or knee length fur coat. I loved her hair pulled back, it emphasized the structure of her face and I loves a good cheekbone honey! If you've seen Whitley in action, she was a "spit fire" but delivered it in a manner that failed to wavier her demeanor or sophistication. She could tell you to "go to hell" in a way that would make you look forward to the trip.

"The Cosby Show's" Denise Huxtable! Polar opposite of anything I was used to. She was daring and dramatic. A mix of patterns and colors that seemed to deliver a harmonious fashion tone that only a true fashionista would appreciate. Her ever-changing hair was to die for. It felt like every episode she looked different and I loved it. She was a free spirit, just flowed where ever life pushed her and Ms. Thang was always ready to fly. To this day, she's still an icon I "stan" for inspiration.

My fashion make-up became a melting pot of different characters I've grown to idolize from a tv screen. Pulling greatness from both of these women gave me the willingness to dress how I feel, without hesitation, without regret, without waiting for someone to give me the green light. So here's to Hillman's Finest! You've created a monster.
