New Orleans Baby!!!

There's something to be said about a little city that packs a such big punch. The atmosphere, food, people, music and nightlife; and no I'm not talking about Vegas. The place I speak of has a cultural presence at every street corner and a story that even the greatest writers couldn't dream up. I'm talking about New Orleans baby!

This past September, I found myself investing a few days to explore (and EAT) all there is to offer in the greatest city in Louisiana. So first things, first....the food. If you love spicy, well search no more. New Orleans Food & Spirits served up some one-of-a-kind char-grilled oysters to die for. And please, get there early to avoid the line. Olde Nola Cookery found in the core of the infamous Bourbon Street gave me A+ service at 3 am. Listen to this, craw fish loaded french fries! You can’t leave without trying them.

If nightlife is what you’re looking for, you gotta add the Maple Leaf Bar Live Music Lounge to your itinerary. Drinks were strong, crowd was on point and the music is classical New Orleans Zydeco. And shopping, flea market shopping was one of my favorites.

My last day there, I had the opportunity to visit Prime Example Jazz on North Broad Street. While chatting with an employee of the location, he reminded me, "You know, all this was under water." He paused for a second, thinking back to Hurricane Katrina before stretching his arm out, "Yup, all of this, under water. You couldn't even see the McDonald’s arches." With a deep sigh, he continued, "I watched people drown out here. The water was no joke. But we made it, we're here."

This city is resilient to say the least. From where they came from, to where they are; you got to add a Nola visit to your "2020 Travel List". I promise, you won't be disappointed.
